I’m often asked to review new launches or try out products before they’re launched on the market. I only truly love a small proportion of them meaning that there are many products I don’t rate enough to put on the blog. So with the new season upon us, I’ve been trying out a whole load of new skincare pieces. I don’t know about you but my skin is in total transition. Probably from the pregnancy hormones but also from this change in weather and temperature. Some products I’ve loved, some I’ve broken out in rashes with and others I simply just didn’t believe the hype.
As well as the newbies, some old favourites have also made the edit. It’s safe to say they’re completely worth the investment and ones that I’ve used until empty. They’re good enough to re-buy and keep as a core product in my bathroom cabinet. You might have read about my favourite eye-makeup remover, face mask and lip balm in my last post here. If not, check that out too!

Dermalogica Daily Superfoliant
I wrote about my love for Dermalogica in my Wedding Beauty Prep post. The brand is super reliable when I have any kind of skin complaints and feel confident that whatever I’m using will work.
This Daily Superfoliant (£55 RRP) is a grey powder that when in contact with water becomes a mousse-type exfoliant. It smells very earthy and its grey colour means you can see exactly where the product is going. It’s amazing how much you can miss from your forehead and behind your ears so it’s easy to see the areas where you’re missing.
Used daily, it improves skin’s texture. I notice a brighter, more even skin tone after just one use. Designed to extract impurities, it gives a gentle exfoliation (not abrasive in the slightest). It leaves skin feeling super clean and helps skin absorb moisturiser straight after. It’s like a detox for the face.
Roger & Gallet Gingembre Rouge Shower Gel
Having recently had our bathroom redone, I took the opportunity to have a huge clear out of all the bath and shower products I’d been hoarding. The one that remained was this Roger & Gallet Gingembre Rouge shower gel. At £9.50 it’s one of the more premium shower gels and to say it smells amazing would be a complete understatement. It’s a gentle scent rather than super overpowering but still leaves you feeling cleansed, hydrated and energised at the same time.
What’s great about this shower gel is that there are no parabens, artificial colourings or surfactant sulphates. So you can shower in the knowledge that it’s gentle and kinder to even the more sensitive of skins. It’s made up of ginger, pomegranate and mandarin so you can imagine how premium it smells under hot water.
Origins Antioxidant Moisturiser with White Tea
Another newbie that’s made it into my top 5 can’t-be-without products is the new Antioxidant Moisturiser from Origins with White Tea (£35).
This is great for skin like mine that’s exposed constantly to the severe pollution in a big city. It uses White Tea, Eidelweiss and White Birch to strengthen skin’s defenses and improve the skin’s moisture barrier. It also contains an SPF 40 so no need for extra sun protection on the face.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve definitely noticed a more hydrated face with a brighter complexion. I’ve been trying to go without foundation (training for when the baby is here) so I feel comfortable using just this alone.
There are no parabens, sulphates, synthetic fragrances, synthetic dyes or phthalates so it’s really kind to skin. The blend of Orange, Bergamot and Spearmint also smells great!
Jo Malone Exfoliating Shower Gel
I’ve been using the popular Lime, Basil & Mandarin scent which, as expected from a Jo Malone product, smells divine. It really is a treat in the shower and feels totally decadent. It’s designed to cleanse and polish at the same time and when rinsed off, you can definitely tell the difference on skin. It’s quite an awakening scent too, so perfect for the morning to help you feel revitalised and refreshed.
Darphin Hydraskin Eye Refresh
At £30 for 15m, this Darphin Hydraskin Eye Refresh cream is a mid-range skincare product. You only need a tiny bit under your eyes and on your eyelids (under your brows for a more awake look). On instant application eyes feel de-puffed and look less tired. It’s much less heavy than some eye creams and absorbs quickly so you don’t have to wait to put on your eye makeup. Fingers crossed this works just as well when baby is here and we’re up throughout the night.
