It’s been a while since I was last in a bikini so let me tell you, when Daniel mentioned that we may be going somewhere hot and exciting for my 30th, I’m immediately (well, thinking of) bettering my nutritional intake, toning up and wanting to look the best I’ve ever been. Vain? Yes. Realistic? Well, I guess so. But as you all know, I work well under pressure and will probably leave it all to the last minute – panicking a week before I’m popping my new season Jimmy Choo sandals into a case and deciding that for the five day run up, I’ll just be eating salad please…

(Throwback to Las Vegas, younger and definitely more toned)

Ok, I’m not being 100% truthful here. I know that a beach bod takes at least three months (in my case) to achieve and it’s not all about losing weight. It’s about feeling confident, being able to enjoy myself when jumping in and out of the pool and not having to worry about photos being taken. I definitely need to implement the philosophy of “always being ready so you never have to get ready”. My Spring beauty overhaul this year has so far seen trialling of a lip treatment, a facelift, a face mask, as well as a YouTube video of my Spring beauty favourites and a new hair style so of course, it’s now time to talk about the body. My bum to be specific. 

Like most women, I never even think about my bum until it’s time to get naked / go to a beach. Then all of a sudden I become obsessed with its firmness, cellulite and wishing I’d done just one more squat at the gym. When I’ve had a drink (or four) I can also see the affects its taking. A heavy intake of alcohol can over dilate the blood vessels, essentially weakening the capillary walls and doing all sorts to not only the outside but also to what’s under the skin. Tissues spoil, leaving skin dull and dehydrated. Gravity is also another key factor and I was gutted to hear that as you get older, your body starts to work against you – slowing down with your metabolism no longer at its peak, so it’s important to take that little bit of extra care.

This is where CACI ECM (Electro Cellulite Massager) can help. It’s known to break down stubborn cellulite all the while soothing tired and aching muscles. It works to lift and firm the buttocks, contouring and toning the upper leg (it can even be used on thighs and stomach). It stimulates circulation and best of all, aids lymphatic drainage. And I’m not talking the ‘lymphatic drainage’ that comes half heartedly with most massages… Fatty deposits are broken down (even those in really heard to shift areas) so toxins are flushed away leaving skin smoother, tighter, brighter and my favourite – dimple free. It’s important to know that cellulite isn’t only just from your lifestyle because genetics can also play a part. 80% of post-adolescent women go on to develop cellulite at some time during their life although it is very hardly ever seen in men, (good for them hey).

One way of treating cellulite is to stimulate the area in order to reduce the volume of fat that has become stored, kick starting the blood flow and circulation which has become metabolically sluggish leaving you with those horrible bumpy bits. The treatment I had earlier in the week uses specific electrical waveforms to mobilise the connective tissue surrounding the pockets of stored fat.  This stimulation triggers lipolysis whereby the fat cells naturally start to release the stored fat leaving me with a noticeably firmer, tighter and clear appearance. The treatment lasted around 40 minutes and whilst only slightly uncomfortable, (especially on those really really stubborn areas) the results were incredible. A quick photo of one leg (treated) versus my other (untreated) leg proved that the system had worked. I was advised that the affects would last for around 7 days and that a course would be advisable for maintenance.

So how does it work?

The Electro Cellulite Massager (ECM) is an attachment that can be used in conjunction with all CACI systems that incorporate  micro-current technology. The hand held device is first warmed in warm water (so not too frightening) and then pushed up and down the area with different pressure alternating with squeezes on the lower buttocks to really firm up the muscles. The currents are applied and then reapplied to remind the muscles of where they should stay.

There’s the standard bum lift (just £40 for 30 mins) or the full on bum facial (what I had) where the area is cleansed and a peel is applied to remove bacteria and dead skin cells before the CACI treatment.
