Toughen Up Your
When I moved to London almost 12 years ago, it was a crisp, Autumn September day. For ‘the big move’, I wore jeggings, tie-up heeled boots with furry tops (yes, (channelling JLo) a jumper and a big parka jacket that was my pride and joy.
Having finished Uni and deciding to make the move to the big City, a parka was a wardrobe staple that I couldn’t live without. It was distressed (although not intentionally, it had just been worn to death) with an orange lining inside the hood (possibly even a furry collar to match my boots). It was bought from some shop on the High Street.
Flash forward to now and a parka is still a staple in my day to day style. Sure I may not need it to run (late) to lectures whilst hungover anymore but it’s ideal for nipping to the shops, doing my errands, chauffeuring my daughter around and even grabbing a lunch with my friends.
A parka for me, is a must, especially when living in a busy City like London where sometimes, you never know where the day is going to take you. I may have ditched the JLo boots in favour of my favourite Birkenstocks or trainers but my Parka wearing style remains the same: casual and easy. A parka needs to be warm, comfortable and stylish. They go with pretty much anything too!

Choosing A Parka
Parkas are going to be huge this season and with so much choice, it can be tricky knowing exactly what to look for. Personally, I prefer something with a hood, a bit of padding, a zip and because I’m pregnant, I don’t feel the need to use a drawstring around the waist right now. There are so many options from fur lined to leather, from waterproof even to twinning with your kiddies so it’s good to get an idea of what you like before you invest. I haven’t quite taken the plunge with Mia’s first Parka yet but I do have my eye on some kids ones for her in Zara.
